COEric Kellerman, Netherlands 8/1/2010 10:01:36 AMGood work, Gerry. I agree about most of the critical comments made here. I would add: 1. Amount of zoom seems to have introduced slight distortions in body shape - a slightly higher viewpoint might have helped. I could be completely wrong about this.; 2. Shadows need to be lightened - can be done successfully with Shadow & Highlights adjuster in PS, whereupon the left hand/wrist will be more separated from the window frame and the muscles in her back will pop; 3. Verticals need correcting - I suggest the one with the window latch on the right; 4. Yes, crop away the wall; 5. Landscape mode might have been better because you could have had fun with the horizontals heading towards their vanishing point on the left.
RPLYPhotographer8/1/2010 10:40:49 AMHI Eric, many thanks. So much to think about and consider as you shoot. Appreciate your comments and will try to apply them to the next shoot. Have a great week. Gerry

7/24/2010 4:26:26 PMGood work - again, it so reminds me of Rodin!!!! As for critique, I find the background distracting - not sure how you could deal with it though, since it is what gives you the great light. I do agree with Michael, I think cropping the window frame on the left would help.
I think working with so many vertical and horizontal lines in the background is extremely difficult.

RPLYPhotographer7/24/2010 4:41:04 PMThanks Christian, Michael certainly addressed the fine points and I do like Raymond's version very much. How's the new job? Have a wonderful week and thanks again. Gerry

7/24/2010 2:38:49 AMsame as Raymond, I cropped the wall on the right, and some on top...

CORaymond Ellstad, USA
7/24/2010 12:06:11 AMNicely backlit figure Gerry... I think I'd crop out that wall on the right which would move the figure out of the center of the image... The old rule of thirds thing. I've taken the liberty to post a cropped version.
Cheers, Raymond

7/23/2010 8:37:46 AMA very good figure study with nice light floating around her body. As you ask for critiques, (all IMHO) it might be a bit better if the window frame on the left were totally cropped out. Also, the left hand and wrist might allow for better flow around the image if it were not placed on the darker window frame. Easy for me to say, I know. If I were at this photo shoot I think that concentrating on photography would be very difficult.
RPLYPhotographer7/23/2010 10:02:21 AMThanks Michael. All valid comments. My ignorance was a major factor for some of these small points.(not distraction as suspected) Sometimes controlled by the presence of other photographers. Didn't consider the subtleties at the time and they are soo important. I guess that is part of the learning curve. Thanks again. Have a wonderful weekend . Gerry
